Proposal Process: The Publication Awards were announced in the first half of 2023, and recommendations were requested by May 2023 in three categories, along with precise citation details and a brief professional justification for the suggested publications. In 2022, printed and/or online publications were eligible for submission, with the condition that only articles or books recorded in the Hungarian Scientific Bibliography (MTMT) could be considered for the awards. According to the announcement, self-publications could also be recommended, but only articles or books in which at least one author is a member of the IX. Class Economic Science Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA).

Evaluation and Decision-Making Process: The submitted entries are evaluated by members of the Work Committee for the Publication Awards, who are supported by the Subcommittee. When making their decision, the Work Committee takes into consideration the professional and scientific quality of the recommended works, the relevance of the discussed topic, and the impact on the development of the field of science. In the evaluation of journals, the list of journals of the IX. Class of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the international Scimago journal list serve as guidelines. In the first step, the members of the Work Committee individually evaluate the proposals, ranking the publications by category and indicating the top 1-3 recommendations for awards, providing justifications for their suggestions. (If a committee member is directly or indirectly involved with any work in a specific category or publication, they do not vote on that category/publication.) After the votes are tallied, the Work Committee finalizes the recommendation for awards during an online meeting.
