Abstract

Impact of social media visual contents on mood and satisfaction with lifestyle among young women

Social media contents can have influence in various ways on attitudes and consumer behavior. However, social media contents can trigger self-esteem issues and dissatisfaction with oneself can lead to needs. It raises ethical questions, especially when the given content is created by companies for the purpose of sales promotion.
In our research, we examined the impact of visual elements of social media content among young women. 93 participants were involved in the research, who were stimulated with fitspiration, body positive and neutral social media content in order to be able to examine the effect of these different contents. Based on the results, it can be said that the social media content used in the research had an impact on the mood of the participants, and in case of satisfaction with the lifestyle we can conclude that such contents can be used for marketing purposes.
