Abstract
Cooperative game for sustainability
Universities can play an important role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and providing guidance to their students, staff, and all their stakeholders. In university education, modern methodologies have already been successfully used in the teaching of sustainability, but the use of a game-based learning approach has so far been less widespread. At the workshop, we will present an idea for a cooperative sustainability game that aims to solve a sustainability-related goal and change polluting behaviour at participating universities. The proposed project will be developed and implemented in university environment with a clear aim to change a well-defined polluting consumer behaviour within/related to universities. In other words, through game-based learning, participants learn how to change their polluting behaviour and experience how a more sustainable lifestyle can be achieved through joint efforts. We expect that this cooperative gaming style will lead to students being more aware of the benefits of acting cooperatively instead of acting competitively, which can play a key role in building a sustainable future.
