Abstract

Exploring cooperation between for-profit and non-profit organisations at health prevention events

Our study examines organisational cooperation in health prevention in Hungary. The aim of our research is to gain a deeper understanding of the cooperation between for-profit and non-profit organisations organising health prevention events, focusing on the resources that are involved in these relationships. For our research, we used the interactive approach of the Industrial Marketing and Purchasing (IMP) Group. An online survey was used as the research method among different organizations. We investigated the followings: the organisational and decision-making practices of the organisations participating in prevention events, the characteristics of the resources invested and generated by the actors in the business relationships established (with a particular focus on information as a resource), and their potential impact on consumers’ health awareness. The different benefits of cooperation for the two types of actors were identified. The results show that for for-profit organisations, for collaboration, the consumers’ desire to be health-conscious is a motivating factor, while for non-profit actors this is not an important factor. According to respondents, health awareness and health literacy of patients can be most influenced by health care staff and advisors. For for-profit organisations, the motivation to participate in prevention programmes is much more complex than considering it as a CSR activity in the corporate portfolio.
