On October 6, 2023, the workshop titled "AI Challenges in the Media, Communication, and Information Industries" took place in an online format. The keynote speaker for the workshop was Dr. Katalin Fehér, Associate Professor at the National University of Public Service, Professor of the transatlantic Horizon Europe NGI program, Fulbright Alumna, Vice President of ECREA Mediatization, Founder of AI Media Research, Bolyai Fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Visiting Professor at Masaryk University, and a member of the University of Southern California MASTS.

In her presentation, Katalin addressed technological challenges, generative artificial intelligence, as well as industry and societal challenges related to info-communication.

Following Katalin's moderation, professional introductions and a roundtable discussion took place:

Dr. Nóra Falyuna, Head of the Faculty of Science at NUPS and Research Fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, spoke about the challenges of disinformation and deepfake.

György Huszics, President of the Data-Driven Marketing Association and CEO of Carbon.Crane focusing on carbon monitoring and reduction in marketing tools, discussed digital carbon footprint and ethical issues.

Viktor Lázár, Founder and CEO of Brickz Technologies analytics company and the AI and psychology-equipped Segmenthee startup, drew attention to the new industrial revolution and the pervasive role of generative AI.

László Papp, Mathematician, Owner and CEO of i-Tango Ltd., and Head of Gartner's representation in Hungary and Bulgaria, shared his thoughts on AI, applied technologies, and Gartner's current research.

Dr. Bence Ságvári, Senior Researcher at the Centre for Social Sciences (TK), currently an instructor at Indiana University in Bloomington, presented introductory thoughts on AI, highlighting challenges in the labor market and rapid changes in digital skills concerning technology.

The panel discussion participants focused on three major themes: (1) the biggest challenges in their field, (2) benefits and risks in society, and (3) the future consumer and service provider.
