General Aim

In addition to the traditional sections, EMOK also provides space for the announcement of special sections (workshops), aiming to explore a topic interactively. The workshops differ from the main topics announced by the conference organizers both in format and in the announced themes.

Workshops without interaction (e.g., consecutive lectures) cannot be considered as special sections.

In addition to mainstream solutions, or instead of them, new, alternative, innovative research trends and methods may also appear, which are considered borderline in terms of marketing.

Possible Categories

  • Common research area focus: Research belonging to the main stream of marketing or diverging from it, characterized by a well-defined topic (e.g., retail innovation, tourism marketing, workshops of the MTA GTB working committees), bringing together researchers from various institutions working in similar fields.
  • Alternative methodological focus: Research based on alternative, innovative, and/or less used methodologies or presentations of their methods (e.g., eye-tracking studies, videography). The fundamental goal of the sections is to uncover and present methodological issues, share practices related to them, and seek solutions.
  • Border and related area focus: Presentation of research and studies dealing with the boundaries of marketing (e.g., applied business anthropology, design, the philosophical vicissitudes of marketing science, postmodern marketing, marketing and painting, architecture, the marketing issues of biophysics, etc.).

Format

The presentations in the section undergo the same evaluation process as the other papers at the conference.

However, the special section supports unique and unconventional forms that do not fit into the mainstream, turn their backs on it, break down and rebuild frameworks and boundaries, whether they are visual or spatial solutions.

The presentation can integrate various art forms (e.g., poetry, prose, painting, photography, filmmaking). It is advisable for the format to fit well with the given topic (e.g., for videography, it is advisable to create a film).

Application Requirement

By March 20, 2024, send a 5-10 line concept to Petra Putzer (putzerp@ktk.pte.hu) regarding the topic of the special section and the related ideas.
