The Cursus vitae aureus (Golden Career) Award, established by the Economic Sciences Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), was presented this year to Ágnes Hofmeister-Tóth. The award ceremony took place on November 14, 2024, at the Panorama Hall of the Gellért Campus of Corvinus University of Budapest, during a joint conference organized by the Economic Sciences Committee and the Institute of Data Analysis and Informatics at Corvinus University.

The award can be conferred annually, based on merit, to a maximum of three public body members aged 60 or older. To determine the recipients, the Committee solicits nominations from all domestic institutions of Hungarian economic sciences (faculties, institutes, departments). From these nominations, a specially appointed Panel—chaired by its senior member—proposes candidates to the Committee, which can grant the award with a two-thirds majority vote. The Panel consists of the deans of faculties offering economic science programs and previous laureates of the award.

Recipients receive an enamel commemorative plaque, funded by contributions from public body members, and the award is presented at an event within the framework of the Hungarian Science Festival. The Economic Sciences Committee has not established specific criteria for the nomination process; instead, it entrusts the evaluation and prioritization of nominees to the recommending Panel. The sole stated requirement is a career of significance and impact that extends beyond the recipient's immediate institution or academic workshop, influencing the entire field of Hungarian economics and management sciences.

Congratulations to the awardee!
